Positioning During Neurosurgery
Positioning During Neurosurgery
Patients will be positioned in a variety of positions for neurosurgical access during neurosurgery.
Procedures may be lengthy, leaving patients at risk of nerve, skin and joint injury, as well as other more sinister sequelae.
The curriculum is fairly explicit on these topics, asking us to explain 'the complications of positioning for neurosurgical procedures: prone, sitting, lateral, park bench'.
- Prone position inc. concorde position
- Sitting position
- Lateral and park bench positions
- Pinned cardiac arrest
